Madison gave North all it could handle in the first two sets of Thursday’s Western Reserve Conference showdown, but the Rangers bullied their way through with 25-25 and 25-20 wins over the host Blue Streaks then closed out the match with a 25-8 victory in the third set.
North collected its third road victory in as many tries.
“Overall, I think we came out slow,” said North coach Chelsey Regovich. “We finally got together and played like a team in the third set. In the third set, that’s the team we want to be, being loud and not making many mistakes, hustling for every ball each point.”
Samantha Pirosko led the Rangers with nine kills and also recorded 12 digs and a pair of blocks. Lindsey Mausser pitched in with eight kills, six digs, three blocks, 13 service points and a pair of aces and Maria Blatnik contributed with six kills, eight digs, three blocks, 22 assists, 12 service points and three aces.
