Girls Varsity Basketball · Rangers perfect in WRC for second time in three seasons

Olivia Oostdyk posted her second straight double-double to lead North to a 67-39 win over visiting Riverside on Saturday.

With the win, the Rangers improved to 19-3 overall and closed out Western Reserve Conference play with a 14-0 record for the second time in the last three seasons.

“We felt coming into the season we had a target on our back as far as league opponents, so to run the table is an impressive testament to the character and focus of this group of girls,” North coach Paul Force said. “They’ve earned the right to have some time now to refocus and get ready for a sectional final.”

North finished last season 13-1 in league play and are 52-4 against WRC opponents in the last four years.

Oostdyk scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in just 14 minutes of play.

Destiny Leo led the Rangers with 19 points and Avril Drew finished with 17. Abby Carter added 10 points and four assists.

The Rangers will host the winner of the South-Madison sectional semifinal on Feb. 20.
