North’s postseason run came to an end on Friday with a 62-56 loss to Canton GlenOak.
The Rangers rallied back from a 14-point halftime deficit to make it a game in the fourth quarter but never could dig themselves out of the early hole.
North ends its season with a 23-4 record and a second straight regional runner-up finish.
“In life or basketball, if you walk away from anything knowing you put everything you have into it, you played hard and love the people you’re with, you’re going to have no regrets,” North coach Paul Force told the News-Herald. “That’s all you can ask for as a basketball team and all you can ask for in life.”
Friday’s game was eerily similar to the regular-season matchup between the two teams. GlenOak led that Dec. 21 contest at the half, 39-17, and went on to win 65-43.
North wasn’t going down this time without a second-half battle.
The Rangers outscored the Golden Eagles in the fourth quarter, 19-10.
“I’m extremely proud of the resilience we showed, coming out down 14 or 15 at the half and playing as hard and loving each other as much as we did in the second half,” Force said. “I’m very proud of that. I think we picked up the pace a little bit, got some turnovers and extra opportunities. We just didn’t have enough to get over that (early deficit).”
Destiny Leo closed out her stellar career with a game-high 30 points. Dori Siekaniec drained three 3-pointers to finish with a career-high nine points and Avril Drew added eight.
Leo led the Rangers with four 3s and also pulled down a team-best six rebounds.
