EASTLAKE—Luka Dedic scored three first-half goals to lead North to a 5-1 win over visiting South on Tuesday in the Ohio Varsity Game of the Week presented by Ganley Village.
Dedic gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead when he scored off of an assist from Dom Kustura with 36:29 remaining in the first half.
South responded three minutes later with a Luka Pranjeta goal off of a free-kick.
Dedic then broke through the Rebel defense and made a move on the South keeper for an easy tap-in goal with 26:57 remaining in the first. He added his third goal eight minutes later when Donovan Petrecca fed him a touch pass at the top of the box. Dedic hit the post but gathered his own rebound for another shot and a 3-1 Ranger lead.
Kaden Kocin made it 4-1 with 13:18 in the opening period.
Kocin’s shot was set up by Petrecca’s throw-in to Ali Albasar, who sent a header into Kocin’s direction. Kocin targeted the far corner of the net and hit his mark.
Kustura closed out the scoring with a goal off of a Nick Ianetta deflection with 9:02 remaining in the game.
With the win, North improved to 5-5 overall and 3-1 in the Western Reserve Conference while South dropped to 4-6 and 1-3.
The Rangers have now won two straight over the Rebels and are unbeaten against their rivals since 2016.
